About us
Four people, one small office, and every lender we can reach.
Wickbourne has arranged mortgages from Bath since 2012. We are independent, we search around ninety lenders, and we still answer the phone ourselves.
Why Bath needed another broker
Eleanor started Wickbourne after watching too many applications fail for reasons nobody had explained to the buyer. A contractor turned down because the lender read his tax return instead of his day rate. A couple who lost a house because the bank's valuation came back three weeks late and nobody chased it.
The fix was not clever. Read the case properly before choosing the lender, explain the choice in plain English, and then chase every party until the keys change hands. We have done that about 2,100 times now.
We are a limited company based in Bath, and most of our clients live within twenty miles of the office. We work by phone and video too, so distance is not a problem.
Who you will speak to
Every case has one named adviser from the first call to completion, with Luke keeping the paperwork moving behind them.
Eleanor Wick
Founder and adviser
Spent eleven years underwriting for a building society before starting Wickbourne in 2012. Takes most of the self-employed and contractor cases.
Tom Bourne
Adviser, buy-to-let
Joined in 2015 from a specialist landlord lender. Looks after the portfolio landlords and the limited-company purchases.
Priya Achebe
Adviser, first-time buyers
The one who will explain a mortgage offer line by line. Also our most patient chaser of conveyancers.
Luke Marsh
Case manager
Keeps every application moving once it is in: valuations, underwriter questions, offer dates and completion.
What we will not do
- Charge before completion. Not for the call, the agreement in principle or the application.
- Sell you insurance you did not ask about. We will mention protection once, explain it, and leave it with you.
- Hand you to a call centre. Your adviser's direct number is on the first email.
- Keep your documents longer than we must. See our privacy notice.
Rates, savings and a few kind words
- Rate secured
- 4.24% five-year fix
- The difference
- £118 a month less than their bank offered
“Our bank said £205,000. Wickbourne found a lender that counted Joe’s overtime and we bought the house we had actually viewed, not the one we could afford.”
- Rate secured
- 4.09% five-year fix
- The difference
- £236 a month less than the reversion rate
“They rang me six months before my fix ended, which I had completely forgotten about. Locked a rate in March, it dropped again in May and they switched it.”
